we might not have had her around too much, but sometimes she would come and watch us swim, and go off the diving boards outside the fence. other parents did too.

 mom never learned how to swim.

we'd go all day, and then again after supper.

it was true.  I got cramps after eating and then getting in the pool.

  2. so much, but so did all the kids in our neighborhood. loved playing chalk walk late on a summer night.

  3. Jeanie Hodgett and Ronnie raced down the street barefoot. I was the official. it was a tie. She did twirling rifles with me in high school, and was on Homecoming court. Her mom had all kinds of trophies in their house, bowling.

  4. but then the certain kids who Didn't come out and play. David. he went on to kill himself I believe. but at the time his mother worked for the newspaper, and she got a shot of us swimming in the flooded ditches, made the front page. not so long ago, that was still talked about in my presence in town. but I considered it mocking, and didn't like it.
