Fiction is a lot like, Say it the way it really is, and Poetry is a lot like, Say it in a different way. Most all of my writing could be for a 5th grader and beyond, since I've got nothing to prove with elevated language, I'd rather images and use creativity in the process.
I've always loved the English language, and I'm forever grateful for a good translation of a poet who didn't use English. I've tried hard to learn Spanish, and I know a little bit. I doubt it was helping me much to do vocabulary words and quizzes. I'm always a bit envious of other families that speak one or more languages to their kids.
I'd like to use more of these words in my poetry, and more words with sounds.
