Rectangle (a shapes poem by sheri)

Rectangle

The bed is built against the day

with a blanket of trust and emotion

the light has no name or place

but comes through the door in a rush

the candy bar on the counter has inches

on the night when he says, sweet dreams

the desk is built to hold the rain away

and certain books that won't fade

the cookie sheet has been like a dock

where the boats all stick and are glazed over

the drawer is full of energy when I took off

and on the switch where blind men see.
