Rain, a poem by Sheri

Rain

When the rains release their burden of holding back

we get to a surface where we wash away our cares

and start over fresh against heat and hollar of summer.

But after 3 days of rain, the sky is thick as wet cement

that mirrors the sidewalks we used to straighten out

down to our last leg and feeling something missing

out of love of perfect days. Looks like rain and

the chance of seeing the day outweigh the contender

waiting bright inside of tomorrow.
