Often times through studying poets I've wondered is it best to live in words or live in life. The poets are the ones who make a language all their own through use and reuse of words, elevated to a point of making something concrete out of the abstract. But how much of the time spent inside of writing could be turned into experiences that bring the same amount of joy in the process?
On the other hand, there are many things that can get in the way of good writing, and many poets in their top game must write their way into certain broad discoveries. In writing my book, This Sky I Know, there were only a few poems in it in which: I got there. And those, I do believe are the ones I will be known for. Life doesn't offer you that feeling many times, but when it does, you can make an internal copy for future works.
