Back in the late 90's, everyone was talking about satellite surveillance, and those who would play God. Things changed immediately when the process turned into electronic torture of those under the monitoring. We went from being watched for some kind of safety and security reason, to being victims of heinous crime. The avenue that opened the worst kinds of human rights abuses happened after 911, when no one had a say in anything related to what our country was doing. Terrorism is something as simple as, What will they do? Are you trained assassins, are they going to retaliate, what should our program do to cripple any of this threat? The military industrial compound made our lives a living hell knowing that so many in mass media, community policing, or other agencies were tuning into us at a very large rate. This immediately silenced those talking about satellite surveillance, and made us into victims of war. Still, they want to hear the war stories, they want to tune in, and take heed. but nearly nothing anymore about being watched.
